June's Roundup
28 June: Bali Triathlon (EdwinC, Sebastien, Susana, Johnny, Neil, Ren)
We have a few of us flied to this beautiful island for the race and their mid-year holiday lead by Edwin Chiam, with the longer swim course, technical and lot of rolling bike course in the open road, they all finished it safe and Sebastien won 2nd runners up trohpy in his age-group! I guess he also won another gift voucher from Four Seasons resort and share with his family for his next holiday!
Aquathon 2 at Kowloon Tsai (CANCELLED!!)
Many of us signed up, some of us set this as target race, it was postponed for 1 week and then cancelled by the again bad weather weekend....
We still have some lucky juniors completed the race in the morning and bring some medals home with surprise and smiles! That's what their training paid off.
4 July: 2.2k Open Water Swim Shek O Challenge
The frustrate weather stopped some of our steps but the mother nature didn't stop some of our strong souls to fright with the currents and swells!
Well done Michal, Mary, Kim, Shek O Yee, Ian Brownlee, Ross and OlivierF!
Sonic Time Trial
The 4th Sonic Time Trial scheduled on 26 July Sunday at Shek O! It will be in Aquathon format for 1.6k swim + 4k run!
All members are welcome!!
The top 3 men and ladies so far (exclude Duathlon 2 because I'm still waiting for the soft copy result from TriA Ms. Mok!!)
Men: Sebastien, Jason Leung, Eric Chan
Ladies: Ho Sau Yee, Gigi Wong, Stephanie Bina
Team Sonic Junior Summer Training Course
We finally kick off the Junior program! We've been received more enquiries and demand on the Island side, it's time to start with a summer course as pilot program. The course will start from 16 July until 31 August for the juniors who able to swim 200m or above.
Mon: 8-10am run at Happy Valley
Thu: 9-10am swim, 10-11am run at Wan Chai Training Pool

Wan Chai Sport Ground closure from 18/7 - 20/9
Again! The summer closure for maintenance is coming, for this month, start from 20/7 until 31 July, we will do running and circuit training instead of track run. I've updated the Calendar.
For August we shall see if we could extend the swim to 2 hours, to be confirmed.
Hot Summer Recipes
Hot summer training tires our body and it's easy to drive our body to some imbalance between heat and cold. I start interested in the approach of chinese medicine and Tai Chi and would like to try some of these to condition my body for surviving the long hot summer training, now sharing some to everyone....
23 July would be the hottest day of this summer according chinese calendar we called it 大暑 "Dai Shu", try these post-training recipes!
1. 冬瓜切開一大塊一大塊(一定要連皮)。
2. 先放藥材煲半小時。
3. 放冬瓜入去,再煲半小時便可。
Apple Pear Soup
3 Pears, 2 Apples, some rock sugars
1. Crop, de-skin and take out all the centre part with seed of the apple and pear
2. Put them into the boiling water, keep boiling for 30mins, heat for 2 hours

Article sharing: Swim Etiquette
We have more new comers joining our training so it's important to learn some 'etiquette' in swim training, such as who should go first? what if you need a rest or skip one lap? how far should I keep with the swimmer on the front?
Some very good article save under Sonic website > Articles
